Midwest transplant, Brandon Anthony, grew up on the stage in Indiana, performing and choreographing mostly musical theatre before receiving his BFA in theater, music, and dance from The Theater School Conservatory of DePaul University in Chicago. He spent 8 years in Chicago, writing and staging his own shows as a music artist, choreographing for the stage and screen, and performing as an actor at The Goodman Theater and many others. It was while in Chicago that Brandon spontaneously walked into his first Equinox gym looking for a part time front desk job to do between shows, and his love affair with fitness began.
After making the move to Los Angeles in 2009, it wasn't long before the Equinox group fitness manager plucked him away from the desk and gave him his first dance class. He spent the next 4 years learning every format he could, eventually teaching Dance, Cycling, Deep Work, and many different Fitness classes. During that time, Brandon also co-developed a dance class for YogaWorks - DanceWorks, built a base of LA dancers at multiple studios across the Greater Los Angeles area, and continued his work as a choreographer. Finding success as a teacher and celebrity trainer in LA, he became known for his hard but fun fitness classes, sexy emotional choreography, and carefree but hardcore attitude. His classes were featured in SELF Magazine twice, The Los Angeles Times, and on E! Entertainment.
In the fall of 2013, Brandon made the move to NYC to begin training for SoulCycle, and it was there that he met his husband at a New Years Eve party a few months later. He spent the next couple years teaching for SoulCycle and Yogaworks across New York before moving to Vienna, Austria for 6 months to be with his then fiance.
It was during his time in Vienna that he began to formulate Movement2Music. While studying theater in Chicago, Brandon had taken a freestyle movement for actors class called that changed his life. While the purpose of the training was geared towards acting, the work became something different for Brandon. It became Therapy. Something he could do all alone in a studio to find peace and clarity. He set his sights on figuring out a way to share that feeling with Everyone. Not just actors in school, but people of all backgrounds. Not for the purpose of creating a character, but for finding your own. Movement2Music for Everyone became his dream.
Brandon made the move back to Los Angeles in the fall of 2015, and married to his best friend in April 2016 <3. With plans to return to his Choreography/Creative Direction roots and take Movement2Music to NYC, Chicago, and Europe in 2017, it's going to be a great year!
From Brandon -
“ I feel the most myself when I Move. I dance, I lift weights, I swim, I run in the mountains, skate, bike - Whatever I'm in the mood for. It doesn't matter, I just move. It helps me to elevate above all the nonsense and the drama, and reach something true. I teach because I want everyone in the world to be able to feel that, to lose and find themselves all at once in a moment. To go longer and harder than they ever thought they could, and to have fun doing it."
